This is NeXT-vs-Mac-IIci in view mode; [Up]

Date: Sun 15-Nov-1989 18:27:01 From: Unknown Subject: NeXT vs Mac IIci I currently have a Mac SE and am very likely to change for a IIci. I use my computer as: remote terminal to a host mainframe; do lots of word processing; crunch numbers (with things ranging from Excel to -- soon -- Mathematica); generate graphs, charts etc. for presentations; archive notes, addresses, references etc in Hypercard. I do some development, typically to build mathematical models (couple of lines in Pascal, couple of lines in Fortran, couple of lines in compiled Basic) or link data structures (couple of lines in hyperText). What are the capabilities of NeXT in these areas right now? What is the forecast for the year to come? Hmmm... for example, you could fill out the "form" below. Bottom line is that I have stretched the capabilities of my SE to the limit and have to upgrade: would it be wise to catch the NeXT wave? I'll summarize if needed. Thanks in advance for your input. How would you rate the chances of NeXT becoming a viable platform? >From: amthor@umaxc.weeg.uiowa.edu (Geoffrey Amthor)
