Date: Sun 07-Nov-1989 05:19:37 From: Unknown Subject: NFS problem between IRIX and NeXT We are using a NeXT and an Ultrix VAXStation 3200 as file servers for an IRIS 4D/70 and an IRIS 4D/25. The NeXT and the Ultrix machine communicate perfectly and the IRIS's and the Ultrix machines are ok. But it appears that file name substitution is failing on the IRIX machines when using the NeXT disks. For instance, 'ls' works but 'ls *' fails to find a match. Also, IRIX 'make' usually fails with error number 1. It is as if noglob has been set. Does anyone have a definitive answer why this occurs? Any workarounds? Thanks. ====================================================================== Alex Woo, MS 227-2 | woo@pioneer.arc.nasa.gov NASA Ames Research Center | woo@ames-nas.arpa Moffett Field, CA 94035 | {seismo,topaz,lll-crg,ucbvax}! ====================================================================== {hplabs,hao,ihnp4,decwrl,allegra,tektronix,menlo70}!ames!pioneer!woo ====================================================================== >From: dubman@ocf.berkeley.edu (Jonathan Dubman)
