Date: Sun 21-Dec-1989 17:13:57 From: jdm@gssc.UUCP (John David Miller) Subject: Re: Third Party Disks for the NeXT? i'm told that the CDC Wren V SCSI disks "just work" on the NeXT. the unit we are buying has been configured with a CDC Wren V 94181-640, 640 Mb unformatted. these can be had for about $3000, which is about $3000 less than what NeXT wants. i plan on connecting my NEC CDR-77 CD-ROM player to the external SCSI port. hopefully, this won't be too painful. from reading this group, i gather that 8Mb RAM is not adequate. can someone email their success/sob story about using 4Mb parts? if it is not recommended i guess i'll simply expand to 16Mb using 1Mb parts. thanks, -- jdm
