Date: Sun 03-Dec-1989 06:55:34 From: Unknown Subject: NeXT Prices---will anybody buy NeXT? ************************************************* The topic has already been beaten to death, but let me add to the last message on software prices. My AIX (IBM Unix) pricelist indicates at least $1500 to $2000 for the same or less functionality as that built into the NeXT. Aside from Mathematica (>$1000), TeX (PCTeX >$400), SyBase, Lisp, Mail, Terminal, etc. Yes, NeXT needs more software and better hardware. But what NeXT already offers now is VERY VERY cheap when the whole system is being taken into account.
