I'm not sure what the name of the Mac format is, but it seems to be an 8-bit raw digitazed file. I got the Mac sound files from a couple of anonymous FTP servers. If anybody is interested, I'll send them a uuencoded tar file which includes a WriteNow doc, and source. The doc includes an attempt at a description for the Mac and NeXT file formats.
