Date: Sun 13-Aug-1989 15:12:25 From: Unknown Subject: RenderMan is only a partial solution to 3D graphics and color. It is very good at the coloring/shading end, average in specifying geometric attributes, and barely addresses the issue of graphic object organization. The specificiation is low-level, but fairly complete. That means RenderMan programs will require a fairly large number of subroutine calls will accompanying increased probability of bugs until more abstract front ends are constructed. Perhaps NeXT is designing such in NeXTStep now. >From: hunt@tramp.Colorado.EDU (Lee Cameron Hunt)
