Date: Sun 16-Aug-1989 19:29:51 From: Unknown Subject: NeXT Sound Software Question What is the NeXT's facility for sound now? What is the standard way of synthesizing it? Is it a device? The reason I ask is I know that the NeXT + its DSP can really do a lot of stuff. Still, what standard is offered for sound production in the system software (or Object-C libraries)? Not too important or urgent a question. Is it a device? I refer those interested to the latest issue of Computer Music Journal. I believe this is the "summer" issue. Several articles are devoted to using Object-Oriented techniques to generate music. One article in particular talks about the "Sound" and "Music" kits available on the NeXT.
