I have no idea where you heard this information, or why it's being  
spread around, but I certainly don't feel that it's true. We have a  
very solid RenderMan development team. 


It is true that one member of the team transferred recently from the  
PC development group to the Pixar Animation Division, but that is the  
only member of the RenderMan group that has moved in over a year.  
This person is also still available for inhouse consulting. We have  
also replaced that person, and continued to hire additional  
developers in both the PC and UNIX groups. 


All of the folks that have been doing UNIX development on RenderMan  
products are still here, and to my knowledge, plan to remain. Our  
team has grown in size in the last couple of years, not reduced.
I feel that Pixar is committed, more than ever, to maintaining a high  
level of development expertise and support to existing and future  
products.

I hope this helps to calm the nerves out there.
