Dr. Weinshank,

Pascal posted this reply a couple of months ago. I am also
including information on the IMSL Complete FORTRAN Libraries for the
NeXT at the end of this message.

Hello all,

A little while back, there were a few posts to this group
about Fortran compilers. The consensus seemed to be
that you only had the choice between the Absoft F77,
or the public domain f2c cross compiler.

Well, I was browsing through the (NeXT) winter 92 Software and
Peripherals Catalog, and guess what I found?

a) Absoft Fortran 77
Well, we knew about this one. Suggested retail $995.
   Absoft: (313) 853-0050

b) Green Hills Native Fortran Compiler
Reviewed in the winter 91 NeXTworld, who gave it only
two Cubes. Suggested retail $1000 (down from $1700).
   Oasys: (617) 862-2002

c) NKR Fortran
Apparently a new player! I wonder if they give significant
higher ed discounts? Suggested retail: $795
   NKR Research Inc.: (408) 249-2612

d) D-F77 Fortran Compiler
Another new player! Available Q1/92. Suggested retail: unspecified
   Diab Data Inc.: (415) 571-1700

Note that I have no affiliation whatsoever with the aforementioned
companies; I haven't even *tried* their compilers. However, I
wouldn't mind getting a Fortran compiler myself, and I thought
this info might be usefull to some of the people on the list.

Later,
